A good thriller

Aankhen is a welcome break from the kitsch-ridden Bollywood masala flicks. It is adapted from Aatish Kapadia’s Gujarati play “Andhalo Pato,” (Blindman’s Buff) and is based on a novel and taut plot with commercial ingredients like songs and romantic-angles strewn in.

In addition, Vipul Shah’s imaginative and meticulous direction combined with Ashok Mehta’s stylish cinematography lends it a Hollywood potboiler look.

The story of a obsessed Bank employee to take revenge from the bank, which he once worshipped. Amitab's plan is to take revenge through the bank robbery...by three blind persons so that it may seem impossible for investigating the crime....His forced accomplice Sushmita Sen, who is a teacher in the blind school, and the ensuing recruting of three blind persons, and their training for the plan is the theme....the plan doesnt go as planned and the events that follow is the climax where Amitabh falls into the pit that he himself digs for the other three...the death of Paresh turns the other two against Amitabh,whom they sense as the person behind the plan, and they cleverly turn the tables over him....thereby instigating him...and make him appear as a mentally disturbed person. The plot and the movie are good and the actors also did a good job....the theme shows how even the best laid sinister plans fail...
