Most disappointing Australian Grand prix

Hi friends, The Australian grand prix was disappointing to me. I expected many teams to perform in a better manner. I expected much from Force India Ferrari but Fisichella was out of the race in the first lap itself. Other driver Sutil was going very well in the 6th place but he too resigned in the middle of the race because of hydraulics failure.

The race was very tough because of high track temperature and recorded around 50 degrees and above. The driver’s car started breaking down with such a high temperature. The Force India team has done 8, 000 kms testing on the cold climate conditions; now the team is concentrating the testing on the hot climate conditions. The coming two races are in Malaysia & Bahrain where the climate will be very hot.

Vijay Mallya was unhappy with result but he was happy the way both the cars behaved at the start. This was the first time that cars were racing without launch control. Apart from the Ferraris & McLaren’s the other teams are all competing with each other.

Lewis Hamilton won the Australian Grand Prix in style, on hot tracks of Melbourne on March 16th 2008. Only 7 cars completed the full race and remaining cars were either crashed or break downs. Nick Heidfield of BMW was first runner up & Nico Rosberg of Williams was second runner up. Former World Champion Fernando Alonso of Renault stood fourth in the race and behind him Heikki Kovalainen of McLaren’s finished fifth at the end of race. Kovalainen recorded the fastest lap of the race with 1:27.418sec in the 43rd lap. Kazuki Nakajima of Williams finished at sixth spot and Sebastien Bourdais of STR-Ferrari finished in the seventh spot.

Ruben Barrichello was disqualified in spite of finishing the race in the sixth place. The reason is he took off the car in the pit lane when the red light is on. Mechanics did not finish in removing the fuel pipe but Ruben left from the pit lane which stunned his team.

Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari team, the defending champion, stood at number eight and his engine failed in the 53rd lap of the race. Robert Kubica (BMW) 47 lap accident, Felipe Massa (Ferrari) 29 lap Engine fail, Timo Glock (Toyota) 43 lap accident, Takuma Sato (Super Aguri) 32 lap transmission, Nelsinho Piquet (Renault) 32 lap accident and car damage, David Coulthard (Red Bull) 25 lap accident. The list of accident is very long and it was disappointing race at the end of the day.

Finally the Force India Ferrari team did not get any points in this race and in the coming races we can expect good performances from Fisichella & Sutil. The Ferrari team & Renault team will look forward for the podium finishes. Hamilton was in good form and he sailed smoothly on the track where other top drivers struggled to drive without accidents.

Team India showed the way to win against the World Champions

Team India showed the class which is missing in previous games of the CB Tri series in Australia for the first time. I will give credit to Sachin Tendulkar, Ventakesh Prasad (bowling coach) & to the young players who are living up to their expectations. The reserve players are playing competitive that is why players like V Shewag, Dinesh karthik & Suresh Raina has to sit in the pavilion as substitutes. The bench strength is very important for any team.

The Australian batting line is very strong but if a team bowl according to the field then it is hard to score freely for any team. Indian bowlers showed the spirit & skill. Australia was going great guns at one stage but Harbhajan Singh (38/2) removed dangerous A Symonds (31) & M Hayden (82). Piyush Chawla another promising leg spinner bowled wonderfully & did not allow Australian batsman to score freely. Except Pathan all the other bowlers bowled excellent line & length. At one stage Australia was eyeing a target of 300 plus runs but the bowlers took important key wickets at regular intervals & restricted them 239/8 in allotted 50 overs. The Australian captain is out of form & same is case with M. Clarke. Hussey played an important knock to help Australia reach a respectable target to defend.

Indian team openers this time were R Uthappa (17) & Sachin Tendulkar (117 not out). Both the players gave India a good 50 runs partnership. Later Uthappa was caught in the deep brilliantly by Hussey, diving to left. Then Gambhir was napping to a quick 2nd run and he was run out unfortunately. Yuvaraj Singh bad form is continuing and his weakness against spinner is exposed by B Hogg once again. At this stage India was in danger of losing the game but Rohit Sharma (66) played a sensible knock with Sachin & helped India to reach close to the winning target. After the departure of Rohit Sharma, captain MS Dhoni played a brisk knock & build an important partnership with Sachin to win the game for India. In the mean time Sachin finish his century & it is the first one on the Australian soil against the Australians. India reached the winning target in 44.5 overs & 242-4 was the final score.

I wish the others nations also play in this fashion to beat Australia regularly. Congrats to Team India & I wish India wins the CB Tri series & break the arrogance of Aussies team.

Indian Mens Hockey team missed the flight to Olympics

Indian Men’s Hockey team were playing the Olympic qualifiers in Santiago, Chile and the 8 time gold medalist missed out on the Olympics games Men's hockey event for the first time when it lost 2-0 to Great Britain in the finals of qualifying tournament on 9th March 2008.

Anyone who saw the match will come to conclusion that British team was more inspiring then the Indian team. The English team never allowed the Indian team to find any angels to score a goal.

India will be missing the Olympics for the first time and it will be hard truth to digest. Since 1928 India appeared 18 successive Olympics and this will be the first time India will miss the Hockey event in coming Being Olympics. This kind of result was expected from Indian Hockey Team and experts were expecting this from very longtime.

The blame game will start very soon and in my opinion the failure is collective from administration, government, players, coaches, and of course the media, whose hunger to prove the negative aspects of team from very long time and this has demoralised the team.

Coming to match, Briton was gold medalist in 1988 and scored two early goals to seal India’s fate. India was never allowed score or dominates the match. Barry Middleton scored the first goal in the 4th minute and Richard Mantell scored the second goal in the 10th minute. After the early goals by the Great Britian team, India never recovered from early disaster. Other teams in the tournament are the host, Austria, Russia and Mexico.

Coach Joaquim Carvalho resigned as coach of Indian team & IHF vice president Narendra Batra also resigned his post and said to media that it is collective failure of the federation. However President of IHF KPS Gill has not reacted much.

Whatever the incidents might happen in my opinion, Indian Hockey Team should plan more and improve the skills and come back strongly. Indian team must bring back the glory of the past and strong planning is needed from Administration, players & coach. I wish all the best to Indian Men’s Hockey team…..

CB Tri Series won by India in style

India won the Common Bank Tri Series against the Australia in Gabba ground, Brisbane today. The best of 3 finals is won by India 2-0, the third & final match will not be played because India won 2 & according to the rules whoever wins the 2 consecutive games will take the cup. Australia was beaten by England last year & this year India took the CB Triseries Cup. This win will be remembered for long time by Indian public.

Earlier in the day, India won the toss and elected to bat first. It was important toss to win and India was given good start by Robin Uthappa (30) & Sachin Tendulkar (91). India lost the first wicket when the score was 91 & 20.5 overs finished. Gambhir (15) joined Sachin but could not make a big score and played a lose shot & got out to M Clarke. Then Yuvaraj came and build a good partnership with Sachin & he was looking in good touch. He scored brisk 38 runs in 38 balls and got out unnecessarily playing a lofted shot which is needless at that time. MS Dhoni & Sachin were building up good partnership but Sachin got out when score was 205, 39.2 overs finished. Ponting took a brilliant catch to send Sachin back to pavilion when he was in process to score second hundred. India collapsed sudden & another 5 wickets feel for just 53 runs. India set a target of 259 runs to win in 50 overs. M Clarke & Bracken took 3 wickets each. Bracken & Hopes bowled very tightly for the Aussies. Brett Lee, Johnson, Symonds & M Clarke were expensive but M Clarke took important wickets at right time.

Australia had a bad start, Gilchrist was first to go in the first over of the match. Ponting & Clarke did not score much and suddenly Aussies were 32-3 in 9 overs. Then Hayden (55) & Symonds (42) repaired the innings with good partnership of 89 runs. Hayden suddenly misunderstood the call for run with Symonds and Yuvaraj threw the ball at right end. Harbhajan gathered the ball & lifted the bails and Hayden was run-out. This was turning point of the match and suddenly Australia lost Symonds in the same over. Hussey & Hopes again build a good partnership 73 runs. Hussey was dismissed when the score was 199 and he was the 6th wicket to fall. At this juncture Aussies were still in hunt for a win and Hopes (63) played a superb knock. The Aussies team lost wickets regularly and Brett Lee (7), M Johnson (8) & Bracken (1) were out in quick succession. Australia needed 13 runs in the last over and MS Dhoni threw the ball to Pathan to bowl the last over. Hopes mistimed Pathan's ball and Chawla took the catch easily. India won the game by 9 runs to lift the Common Bank Tri Series Cup.

Praveen Kumar & Harbhajan Singh turned the game for Indians with tight line & length. Praveen Kumar took 4 wickets that of Gilchrist, Ponting, M Clarke & Brett lee. Harbhajan removed the dangerous Symonds. Pathan took 2 wickets & Hopes was his first victim and Bracken was the other. Sreeshant took the key wickets of Hussey & M Johnson. Chawla & Yuvaraj did not take any wickets.

This victory is sweet for India after a bad experience in Test series with Australians. The match was very trilling up to the last over. Some credit goes to the bowling coach Ventakesh Prasad & fielding coach Robin Singh and the captain MS Dhoni. Sachin should also be appreciated for standing like a wall. I salute Sachin Tendulkar for his great knock which helped India a lot to win the series. The bowlers were the plus point for India & team India showing consistency which is very much required in ODI’s. I congratulate India team for the win of the tournament.

Why Yuvi is not scoring much runs in IPL

Hi friends, good afternoon and the reason for Yuvaraj Singh not scoring much in DLF IPL is because of the below picture.

I hope yuvi comes back to his normal form and save his team..........

What an inspiration for Kings XI Punjab having in the form of Preity Zinta. She is making all the players to play their best except Yuvaraj Singh. All the players are playing outstanding cricket and highlight is Sreesant bowling performance and he is leading wicket taker of this tournament. In the last match against the Mumbai Indians Sreesant was awarded with the purple cap and hats of to Tom Moody and Preity Zinta for making such a competitive team.

With lots of love,
